- Getting around: Central Paris is compact and best on foot; the Metro fills the gaps (a Navigo Easy pass or carnet of tickets works well).
- Book ahead: The Louvre, Versailles and the Eiffel Tower need timed or guided entry — never queue on the day.
- Closed days: Louvre closed Tuesdays; Versailles closed Mondays. Plan around them.

Day 1 — The heart of Paris
